About
My Name is Karol O Loughlin and I am an artist based in
Dublin, Ireland. I am captivated by nature, especially the ever-changing Irish wildlife throughout the seasons and I combine this with spiritual aspects into my art practice. In nature is where I feel creatively and spiritually connected. My artistic expression intertwines with spiritual dimensions, drawing inspiration from the connection I find in nature. I seek to encourage viewers to marvel at the beauty around us and, in those moments, connecting with both nature and us and that we are a part of nature. As a dedicated practitioner of yoga and meditation, these spiritual and physical disciplines play a pivotal role in my daily creative practice, shaping and informing my art. Every day I am reminded of the connection between us and nature how inseparable we truly are and that is what I want to portray in my art. I often meditate before I start making art and it is an important part of my art practice.
I work as a Art teacher and artist, Part of that is teaching art and yoga retreat days and I am eager to continue developing my style as an artist and illustrator.
My Background
I trained as a fashion designer originally and lived in London working in the fashion and retail industry for twelve years before moving to Dublin. I completed my certificate in yoga teacher training in 2016.
I always practiced art after my degree but it was during my yoga teacher training when I realised being an artist is my true calling in life.
I was raised in the county side in Ireland with a farm on
one side of the house and miles of forest on the other side. Nature was a big part of my upbringing and something I took for granted. Swimming in the local rivers
and running around the forest with my sisters and brothers.
